PARENT & FRIENDS ASSOCIATION

Who are the PFA?

The Parents and Friends Association (PFA) are a small group of volunteers, mostly made up of parents of current MOSPS students. (Though they welcome anyone who would like to be involved in in supporting the school – past pupils, wider family members and volunteers from the local community with something to contribute) They are a separate body to the school itself, and a registered charity in their own right.  They work closely with the school, to raise much needed additional funds.

Take a look at the MOSPS PFA Facebook page to see what they are up to!

What the PFA do

At the start of each school year, we liaise with the Senior Leadership Team, Governors, Staff and pupils, to get an idea of what the school might want or need, but can’t necessarily fund themselves.  We like to think that we help to add “the icing on the cake”, to enhance and expand the children’s day to day experiences at school, both inside and outside the classroom.

In spite of the headline grabbing information that you see in the press, school funding is tighter than ever, with budgets being squeezed, and our schools are being asked to cope with rising levels of Special Educational Needs and anxiety amongst our children, as well as maintaining achievement standards for all, offering a broad and balanced curriculum, and meeting all the demands of statutory guidelines.

So, to try to help as much as we can, as the school year goes on, we work hard behind the scenes to set up a variety of fun and engaging fundraising events, to earn as much as we can, to deliver on the items that the School have identified at the start of the year (and have some fun ourselves along the way – meeting other like minded parents/carers/members of the community)!

Here are just some examples of the PFA’s fantastic work…

The Eco Pod
– Located up at the edge of Little Wood and used by all during their Forest School sessions.

Interactive Whiteboards
– Each classroom has been fit with these fantastic interactive resources.

Garden Renovation
– Over the Summer holidays the team helped rebuild the raised bedding areas in the garden. The children are now reaping the rewards from the produce grown there, during their Forest School sessions!

Bike Storage
– To encourage and facilitate more families to walk, scoot or cycle to school the PFA installed ample storage on the school grounds. Mr Willis has also introduced cycling into the Curriculum!
